Race and Oppression Across Time and Place

Three award-winning authors explore societal expressions of race and oppression across time and place. Justina Ireland builds an alternative history around zombies and the Civil War, while Kwame Mbalia creates a parallel universe based in tensions between cultures. In contrast, Mark Oshiro sets his story in Oakland as youth of color, diverse in sexuality and gender, organize to challenge state-sanctioned violence.
