Relationships and Belonging: Picturebooks and Activities


This interactive session involves a read aloud of a picture book by the author of "Gust, Gust, Gust" about a boy who is afraid of the wind, followed by engaging in collaborative activities on relationship building, belonging, and wind/air. Participants will receive a bibliography of picture books focusing on these themes.

Mary L. Fahrenbruck

Mary L. Fahrenbruck is an associate professor at New Mexico State University where she teaches pre-service and in-service teachers about the significance of reading aloud to children. Her goal is to familiarize university students with picturebooks and novels that feature characters, settings and experiences that reflect the historical and current lives of children living in New Mexico and the Borderlands region of the United States....

Ray Jaramillo

Ray Jaramillo is a New Mexico State University graduate who earned his Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Erikson Institute.  He is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in Education....
