Russ Vanderboom, a journalist and Marine, wrote for agriculture publications in Wisconsin before delving into his passion for science. Medical science became the focus of his second career. He wrote for the Cleveland Clinic, American Association for Cancer Research and the Mayo Clinic. He and his spouse live near Ely, Minnesota, adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. His life experiences are reflected in his fiction novels, "The Good Guy List" and "North Star Resort," the first two books of a trilogy.
