She is the author of the picturebook and board book “The Twelve Days of Christmas in Arizona” as well as three novels for children, “Close Encounters of a Third-World Kind,” “If That Breathes Fire, We’re Toast!” and “The Girl Who Has Everything.” She is a founding board member of Make Way for Books, and helps asylum seekers at the airport.
