Christabel Choi’s writing is inspired by her years in Korea and France, by treks over snowy mountain passes, tall ships on the high seas and transcontinental trains. She grew up in rural Oregon, in a close-knit family from four continents. She holds a degree in Intercultural Relations from Mount Holyoke College. "Rice Paper Window" is her first novel. She settled in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband and three children. Her life motto is to leave it better than she found it, except for her office, where maintenance is a noble enough goal.
