Curt Ench

Curt Ench, author of The Devar-Garrison Historical Mystery series, including The Translation trilogy, explores the inescapable and magical connections between the past and the present. Influenced as a young child by his parent’s quest for both scientific and spiritual knowledge, he has maintained a lifelong pursuit to understand the cultures and beliefs of others. The latest novel in the series, "The Yonker-Lost Treasure of Esopus Creek," traces the origins of American liberty and religious tolerance back to their seventeenth century Dutch roots.

The Yonker - Lost Treasure of Esopus Creek In his latest novel, Curt traces the origins of American liberty and religious tolerance back to their seventeenth century Dutch roots in the bustling port city of New Amsterdam, and in the nearby village of Flushing. It was in Flushing that freedom of conscience, a newly adopted liberty in the Dutch homeland, was passed on to its offspring colony, where it ultimately became a fundamental part of American law. And although the authoritarian directors of the West India Company tried to extinguish this essential liberty, much of it managed to survived into our modern era.
